About us

We provide Pre-Departure Orientation and Training (PDOT) programme so as to protect vulnerable migrant workers who are looking for better opportunities of work outside their countries. Our programme is carefully designed to enable the migrant worker to adapt to the political, historic, cultural, social and economic context of destination or host country in general and community in particular. Our programme caters for all categories of migrant workers, from illiterates to highly qualified professionals; those from the rural areas and the urban dwellers. We in addition, place a high value on diversity of race, language, gender and culture.

Since its inception, the Fundamentals of Great Lakes Training Centre (GLTC) has been committed to providing the highest quality, needs-based pre-departure orientation and training interventions to its clients, both locally and internationally. Our Resource Personnel

We employ a core team of exceptional individuals and draw on a wide array of professional associates and support personnel on an as-needed basis. GLTC has a diverse human resource capacity that consists of individuals that have worked on international, national and local levels with proven track records of delivery in the education, training and development programmes to the state, private and non-governmental sectors. Within our pool of professionals are people that have worked extensively in all corners of Uganda. It should be noted that our staff and Associates come from a host of backgrounds including national and local government, business and civil society organisations.

Curriculum

Migration of labor is a service export for Uganda. The notion of "export readiness" of any product or service takes place in the country of origin and it accounts for 75% of the product/service's marketability. It is critical to understand that competiveness in the export market calls for quality standards. It is also important for safeguarding the Ugandan brand image in the export of migrant workers .The pre-departure orientation is a way to add value and to polish the product of the migrant laborers
